Updates

Watching "Memo" (AKA: Elmo) with Daddy
Ok, so I had to post some of these videos and pictures we've been taking of Thomas. He really is in such a fun stage, trying to talk more and playing and being silly all the time. He calls pretty much any living thing doggy (though he says "Oggy!!"), even the birds and rabbits always in our yard. :) He is a great kid about going to sleep for naps and at night. He snuggles right down with his giraffe and blanket with his binky in his mouth and tells us "Nuh Nigh!" and "Uv yoooooou" (Night and Love you!)

He loves his shoes!
He loves putting shoes on. He LOVES being outside and playing on the playground (especially the slides and steps!). He gives really great hugs and kisses all the time. Recently, he boosted my self-esteem a couple (hundred) notches....he briefly glimpsed a Victoria's Secret model on my computer screen while I was entering a giveaway on their website and he proclaims, "Mommy!" Needless to say, I was flattered. :)
Reading with Daddy
He has decided recently that he likes us to read to him. Up until about a week ago, he would usually get too frustrated, bored, etc. within about 20 seconds of reading a book and ended up taking it from you or running away.

As far as the house goes, things are coming along. We are shooting to close by May 9th or earlier. The seller doesn't want to fix anything listed on the inspection report, which is frustrating, but I think we'll end up fixing them ourselves. (There are only a few small-ish things)

As for some sad news...I think I lost our pet rabbit, Rocky. I let him in the fenced backyard to run and play as I have in the past, but I think this time I left him too long and he escaped. I haven't seen him since Monday afternoon. We've had him for over 2 years now and he's been a great pet. (Quiet, usually in a cage, and we can stock him up on food and water and leave him for a few days) If he really is gone for good, I hope he enjoys the rest of his life in the Nevadan wilderness with some of the friendly cottontails we have hopping around!

In other news, I received my Nevada substitute teaching license for grades K-12! Apparently they are in dire need of substitutes out here and my degree allows me to sub for any grade. John and I thought I could sub on Fridays (when he's off) and any other days I can/want to during the week (if I get a babysitter). We thought it would be a good way for me to stay in the game and make a little extra moolah every now and then. :) (They also pay almost double what subs in Utah make!)

John is enjoying work and getting programs written and things accomplished. I'm proud of him! We're excited for all the exciting things coming up and the summer trips we have planned.

  1. I'm glad things are going so well for you! Your house is super cute and of course, your boy is darling. :) That's awesome about being a sub...good luck with everything! :)
